here's AN OVERVIEW OF our adventure itinerary
Day one

Arrive in the beautiful city of Marrakech. Make your own way to the hotel, check out the souks if you have time, and be ready to have a team catch-up at 3pm ahead of beginning the trek tomorrow. Here you'll meet The Living Project's Josh as well as your local expert guide. Our local expert guide works for our incredible in-country agents who support the team with in-country logistics, making arrangements and support The Living Project in providing effective safety, and if required, emergency response.  Together your guide and Josh will answer any questions and ensure everyone’s ready and prepared for the mountain. After the  introductions head out into the sights, sounds and smells of Marrakech and grab a bite to eat before getting some kip.

Day two

We’ll be starting early today. We’ll breakfast at the hotel before jumping in private transport to head out to the High Atlas Mountains and the lovely village of Imlil. Here we'll meet our support team (including a chef and mules) who'll cook for us and carry some of our gear up the mountain. Lunch will be provided after an hour-ish of walking in the small village of Aroumd. From here we’ll be trekking 4-5hrs up to our mountain refuge where we’ll eat and spend the night. By this time we’ll already be at 3207m above sea level and once the sun goes down it will be a little chilly.

Day three

Summit Day! We start very early, around 4am as we begin the trek to the summit of Mt. Toubkal, the highest mountain in North Africa at 4167m. It’s a challenging, long day but well worth it. From the ridge at 4000m and the summit itself, the views are magnificent… to the north we see the fertile plains of the Magreb and Marrakech, and to the south, the wild rugged landscape of the pre-Sahara. After the summit we’ll trek back to the refuge for lunch and then back down to Aroumd for dinner and the most well-earned sleep you’ll ever have.

Not a super early start! We’ll breakfast in Aroumd before getting our transport  to Tagazhout - the centre of Morocco’s surf scene. It's a fairly long journey today, 4-6hrs through the mountains broken up by lunch half way, a great opportunity to reflect on the adventure we just shared. Arriving in Tagazhout we’ll be staying at a special surf camp for the next few days and you’ll have the opportunity to explore the surfing and yoga of your choice. We’ll take dinner together in our new home by the sea.

A day for you. Explore Tagazhout, grab some surf, move through some yoga, rest. Optional surf and yoga lessons (including kit hire) can be arranged. Breakfast and Dinner are included and will be taken together. Lunch is up to you.

Another  day for you. Explore Tagazhout, grab some surf, move through some yoga, rest. Optional surf and yoga lessons (including kit hire) can be arranged. Breakfast and Dinner are included and will be taken together. Lunch is up to you.

After breakfast we’ll travel back to Marrakech and after checking in at our beautiful Riad accommodation for our final night. Once settled you’ll have the chance to explore the magic of Marrakech. There’ll be an optional walking tour of the souks and the famous Jamaa el Fna square and we’ll organise a final group dinner somewhere special to celebrate our adventure together. Lunch will be up to you.

Waking to the sound of the Muezzin’s of Marrakech,  we’ll enjoy our final breakfast together After that this journey ends, and another begins……

FAQ- How fit do I need to be?

There's no doubt, the trekking element of this adventure is a physical challenge. Days are long, and the summit trek on Day 2 is a steep climb in the dark for a few hours, before a long hike back down. The views and personal gratification are however entirely worth it! We deliberately say that we explore Toubkal as while the summit is awesome - we are all about the journey through this remarkable people and place and each person has their own "summit" on any adventure of this kind. Our job is to help you explore yours.

We are supported throughout by mules to carry the majority of our gear, but each person will be expected to carry around 3-5kilos of their own necessaries and be prepared to slowly hike for the majority of both days. Ultimately - the fitter you are - the more likely you are to enjoy the experience as much as you can.
