THE JOHN MUIR
EXPEDITION

EXPLORE THE WILD WHILE PROTECTING THE PLANET

Choose from two unique, consciously curated expeditions, and empower your students to adventurously explore inspiring wild places in the UK, and through direct action, contribute to critical conservation and earn their John Muir Explore Award as a result.

THE JOHN MUIR EXPedition | THRIVE IN THE WILD
AN 8 day EXPEDITION IN THE WILDS OF DARTMOOR

Students begin by learning to live wild in the woods, making fire, foraging, cooking and crucially contributing to a forest management initiative.

Taking these skills with them, students then pack their bags and journey by foot, steam train and canoe from the high moors, all the way to the ocean, wild camping along the way.

THE JOHN MUIR EXPedition | live WILD
AN 8 day EXPEDITION IN THE KNOYDART PENINSULA, SCOTLAND

"the UK's LAST REMAINING WILDERNESS"

Live Wild – journey by overnight train, ferry and foot to 'The UK's last remaining Wilderness' – The Knoydart Peninsula in the West Highlands of Scotland.

On this expedition students learn self-sufficiency and how to work as a team to move through a stunning remote environment. Along the way students contribute to a local re-wilding initiative (in the home of The John Muir Foundation), and earn their John Muir Explore Award as a result.
